sound artist, Tristan Louth-Robins.
IMPORTANT SITE NOTICE - PLEASE READ:
As of February 2024, there is a current issue affecting the embedded map below where the majority of hyperlinks
are not working. I believe this may be attributed to backend code changes associated with the map server.
This only appears to be affecting the desktop browser version of the map and smartphone
tablet sessions of the site appear to be unaffected.
As an interim step, please navigate the map in full screen here.
Once you navigate to a given site, you may may return to the full map by clicking/tapping 'BACK TO MAP'. The 'LANDING PAGE' link
will navigate back to this page you can see.
Thanks for your patience! TLR.
LATEST UPDATE - AUGUST 2023:
New site recordings from Inman Valley, Victor Harbor, Aldinga Washpool, Myponga and Yankalilla. See MAP UPDATES section for more.
If using a smartphone or small tablet, turn your device sideways for best results using the sound map.
You can interact with the map via this landing page and explore the latest updates, site index, videos from field trips and external sites

Since 2011, acoustically significant sites on the Fleurieu Peninsula have been sought out and documented.
Although the sound map began in earnest as a straightforward field recording project, in recent years, the sound map has placed a greater emphasis on aspects of
acoustic ecology for the analysis of acoustic environments over extended periods of time.
Sites that are selected for inclusion in the map are evaluated upon a criterion of biophonic, geographic, phenomenological,
aesthetic and historical attributes.
The Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island are traditional lands of the Kaurna, Peramangk, Ramindjeri, Ngarrindjeri peoples.
